Kindergarten
Margaret Wilson
Hi!
Here at Incarnation we have one Kindergarten teacher, Ms.Margaret
Wilson and a Kindergarten Aid, Mrs. Luanne Gilman. In kindergarten at Incarnation we strive
to take children from where they are developmentally and provide hands-on experiences
to challenge them as they grow.
The classroom experience is a balance of whole group, small group and
individual activities for each child. There are quiet times of listening
and times of active exploration provided through both learning and play
centers. Learning materials are planned based on the child’s prior
knowledge, interests and teacher determination. In this developmentally
appropriate environment, the materials used, methods
of instruction and hands-on activities are aligned with the level of
development of each child. In the kindergarten classroom, we view
education as a holistic approach to teaching by striving to fulfill the needs
of the mind, body and soul of each child. We love and nurture each child
as a unique individual of a loving God.
Our integrated curriculum includes a strong phonics based language arts
program, a math program based on real world concepts and science and social
studies programs based on observation and analysis of the natural
world. Our kindergarten religion program emphasizes Christianity as the
basis of a healthy society. Through Bible stories, prayers, songs and
attending Mass, students learn to exemplify truth, honor, self-discipline
and model the heart of Jesus Christ with compassion and respect for others and
themselves. To further enhance the kindergarten curriculum, the students
participate in classes such as Spanish, Art, Music, Computer, P.E. and Library.
